Velour cut bricks also known as extruded bricks, are made using a more modern method of brick manufacturing. Relatively low moisture clay is extruded through a die to form a column. This column of clay is then cut with wires to split the clay into individual bricks. Small particles and inclusions in the clay are dragged through and pushed into the surface adding a slight texture oriented in the direction of the extrusion. Usually this type of brick is used in commercial applications or contemporary settings.
