Sandmold texture name comes from brick making process where sand or sawdust has been applied to the surface of brick before being fired. This manufacturing process has been practiced for thousands of years. A coating of sand was used to help the sticky clay bricks slide out of the molds, and this sand left a distinctive grainy texture that can still be seen today on historic buildings across North America. In addition, this brick is also tumbled to give it its imperfection and rustic, old-world look that customers seek.
